TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
Once the excitement settled, reality hit. We would need to pack up our entire four-bedroom house and fit our lives into a space no bigger than one room. We are slowly downsizing our possessions, which has been both liberating and confronting. We’ re keeping a few meaningful possessions in storage for the day we might return to a home with bricks and walls, but storage space isn’ t cheap, so every item has to earn its keep. It’ s amazing how much you realise you don’ t need once you start letting go.
Over the coming months, we’ ll be preparing our house for sale. That means a lot of painting, deep cleaning, and even a little interior styling to make it shine for potential buyers. Finding the right agent will be another key step, someone who understands not just the market, but the emotional journey of selling the place we’ ve called home. Once it’ s sold, many of our larger pieces of furniture will be donated or sold, ready to start new stories with new families.
The bittersweet part comes with selling our old van. It’ s been more than a vehicle – it’ s been our ticket to adventure, our little sanctuary on wheels. From the red dirt of our travels to the turquoise waters of the coast, it’ s seen more of Australia than many people do in a lifetime. Letting it go will be sad, but we know another family will love it just as much as we have.
Soon enough, we’ ll pick up our brand-new van, and that’ s when the real excitement begins. Moving out of our home and into our new rolling one will feel like closing one chapter and opening another. The adjustment won’ t be without its challenges, but we’ ve had years of practice travelling light and thriving on the road.
And of course, our furry travel buddy Twyla will be coming along too, though she’ s been told she’ ll have to downsize her toy collection! Travelling full-time with a dog will be a whole new adventure, but if we’ ve learned anything, it’ s that the best memories are made when we take a chance on the unknown. The road is calling again, and this time, it will be for a long time.
