RV FEATURE
The weather can be unpredictable in the foothills of Victoria’ s High Country, but the weather gods looked favourably on the Association of Caravan Clubs of Victoria( ACCVic), granting perfect days and balmy nights for Victoria’ s 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Annual State Rally.
More than 30 RVs and almost 70 members from all parts of Victoria assembled on the third weekend in March at Myrtleford’ s Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds.
Many more registered to attend the rally but with war forcing fuel prices up and threatening supply, many opted to stay home. Fortunately for those that did attend, the region had plenty of petrol of all octanes and diesel at reasonable prices. Of course, prices rose marginally over the weekend, as they did throughout Australia.
Victoria’ s Alpine district offers numerous nearby towns to visit, each boasting many touristcentric activities and attractions. Myrtleford is central to the district.
HAPPY HOUR
As usual, proceedings started on the Friday afternoon with a happy hour. This provided an ideal opportunity for members of the several caravan clubs to mingle and create or refresh friendships. Enhancing camaraderie between members of different caravan clubs is a main reason state rallies are organised in all states of Australia each year, not just Victoria. To that end, after an ACCVic-funded barbecue and a welcome address by ACCVic president Alan Andrews and state rally coordinator Roger Hadgraft, it was time for the evening’ s entertainment.
