A discussion about powers of attorney followed. During the robust Q and A, many people related their experiences, shedding light on potential pitfalls and successes. The message: it is a very good idea that couples obtain powers of attorney for each other, and with another trusted relative or friend if considered necessary by their solicitor.
Eventually, the evening entertainment ended after an invitation for a representative of every caravan club present to introduce their members, to relate a little of their club’ s history and activities, and to recommend rally destinations in Victoria that other clubs might consider visiting. The‘ Meet and Greet: So No-one is a Stranger’ session helped break down intra-club cliches by encouraging inter-club interaction.
THE CLUBS
The caravan clubs that attended were Australian Adventurers & Camping Caravan Club; Australian Touring RV Club; Bendigo Caravan Club; Coromal Caravan Owners Club of Victoria; Gippsland Caravan Club; Nomads Victoria Caravan Club; Jayco Getaway Caravan Club; and the RACV Caravan Club.
Some greeted Saturday morning determined to go for an early walk before arranging car-pooling to Bright for the monthly market or to further investigate Myrtleford itself. The Bright market was reported to be smaller than usual, possibly due to the fuel crisis.
After lunch, many enjoyed‘ bare foot’ lawn bowls at the local Myrtleford club or played mini golf in Bright, before returning to the showground in time for happy hour and the evening’ s shenanigans. At last year’ s state rally in Lakes Entrance, Vic, it was suggested that a quiz night be organised for this year. And so it was done! Googling was outlawed. No-one knew what animal had pink milk, nor who was Australia’ s shortest serving prime minister. A few knew the name of the world’ s speed record-holding steam engine, but none the actual speed; all knew where the SA, NSW and Qld borders meet, and the national sport of Japan.
