TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
The town itself leaves a lasting impression. Cohuna’ s towering painted water tank stands proudly above the streetscape and has become an iconic local landmark. Nearby walking tracks followed the riverbank where joggers, cyclists and early risers embraced the calm morning air.
Breakfast eventually led us to The Big Cohuna Stockyard after hearing rave reviews about its waffles. The reputation was well deserved. Adam chose the butterscotch waffles while I opted for a savoury version topped with crispy bacon – both absolutely delicious and the perfect way to start the day.
After breakfast we wandered through several small shops, including a fascinating antique store, before stopping by the local butcher to gather supplies for lunch back at camp. Along the riverside track we also discovered a free-camping area overlooking the water – a tempting option for a future visit, although we still wouldn’ t trade our waterfront holiday park site for anything.
Back at camp, the relaxed atmosphere continued as families paddled past in kayaks and standup paddleboards while we cooked lunch on the barbecue. Then came one of the weekend’ s unexpected highlights, live music on the lawn organised by the caravan park. Drinks in hand, we joined fellow travellers stretched across the grass as music drifted through the warm afternoon air. Cohuna surprised us in all the right ways. It’ s a destination where water, nature, good food and genuine country hospitality blend effortlessly together. Whether you’ re chasing outdoor adventure or simply searching for a peaceful escape, Cohuna is a town well worth discovering.
