Ah, the luxury of using a 240V hair dryer in your caravan!
In our case, we were relying on a single 200W folding panel, which isn’ t enough to comfortably keep up with regular 240V appliance use. To improve our recharge rate and stay off-grid for longer, I’ m now planning to add a second 200W folding solar panel to the Bluetti system. That extra solar input will make a noticeable difference to how quickly we can top-up the batteries each day.
AIR-CONDITIONER TEST
Yes, the Bulleti Elite 300 runs our caravan air-conditioner with ease. But as you can imagine, the AC is a power hog. A 30-minute test used just over 20 per cent of the Buetti Elite 300 battery. Good enough to perhaps take some edge of the temperature in your caravan but it would have to be used sparingly, unless you have serious solar input to replace the energy used. Not such a problem for us as our caravan is equipped with Sirocco fans for summer, and a gas heater which uses hardly any electrical power to run.
BLUETTI ELITE 30 V2
The Elite 30 is the baby brother of the Elite 300, and it lives in our tow vehicle. When we unhitch and take our vehicle exploring, it powers all of our camera gear, our drone and tablets, and even runs our small fridge when on short day trips.
On days where we may take a longer or overnight tent trip, we simply take the bigger Elite 300 from the caravan with us and it provides ample power for all necessary items, such as our car fridge, induction cooker and coffee machine.
This approach saved us from having to install a second battery system in the car, a cost we couldn’ t justify for our short day trips. The Bluetti Elite 30 also came in very handy in topping up the energy in our e-bike and keeping our camera gear and drone charged at all times.
The Bluetti Elite 30 is great for topping up the battery in David ' s e-bike!
