ALISON’ S FIRST FAREWELL TOUR
Our van is fabulous, but at 10 years of age, it’ s allowed to have a couple of problems now and again. This one was the lights on the back of the van – the lower left-hand brake light needed replacing – but as the original style was out of stock and production, we had to replace both sets of light.
We also took the opportunity to catch up with more friends. One of the places we visited was the Seaford RSL. Lovely food, but the best thing was the seniors’ desserts. You could choose from a display and pay $ 5 for a takeaway dessert. They were well worth being a senior and parting with $ 5!
Having been in this area before, we did some great repeats. Dandenong Markets are always on our lists of markets. One of our favourite coffee stalls is there. You could almost do your weekly shop there.
We made our way to Alexandra Showground Caravan Park. We asked for five nights but were told we could only have two because it was booked out for the long weekend. Okay, we could work with that, but as it turned out, the bad weather meant that there was a steady flow of cancellations. We ended up staying there for four nights.
I’ ve never spent so much time driving through an area that was in recovery mode from bushfires. It was sad to see so many homes destroyed. But what amazed me was how quickly nature was regenerating the area.
