We took a day trip out to Eildon, a name I knew from growing up in Melbourne, but not a place I can ever remember visiting. Well, it’ s a lovely spot. If there was a worldwide competition for the best playground, I think Eildon would win hands down. It was hard to drag myself away!
Sometimes the names really make me laugh, and Snobs Banyarmbite Falls is one of those. We made our way down to one of the viewing platforms and the falls are lovely. The steps were a bit steep, but well worth using to see the falls.
Our next stop was an overnight stay in Longwood Rec Reserve. Just one quiet night with nothing planned. Well, we couldn’ t have been more wrong! About 500m away there was a concert and it was buzzing with people, food stalls and an empty stage which didn’ t stay empty for long. As the concert was sold out, we simply sat in our van with the door open and enjoyed the concert.
Another overnight stop was in Tooberac, another new place to me. The only place to park the van was behind the Community Hall. It’ s not all that flat but there is what looks like a basketball practice concrete area, so we parked on that. If you ever get a chance to go there, the pub is full of friendly people and the bakery is worth a visit. The war memorial was magnificent.
Peter made some small repairs to their van before they headed off on the next leg of their journey.
