THE FRONT BOOT
Because compressor refrigerators require fewer internal cooling components, they can maximise usable storage space and provide travellers with greater capacity for food and beverages. Improvements in compressor efficiency have also reduced power consumption while making operation quieter than ever before.
Combined with the growing adoption of lithium battery systems and rooftop solar solutions, these developments are helping make extended off-grid travel increasingly achievable for RV owners.
Dennis van den Berg, Thetford RV / OEM product manager, believes the market is experiencing a natural evolution rather than a complete replacement of existing technologies.
“ Absorption refrigeration has served the leisure vehicle market exceptionally well and will continue to be the preferred choice for many travellers for years to come,” said Van den Berg.
“ At the same time, we are witnessing a clear trend towards electrification. As battery capacity increases and travellers look for greater energy flexibility, compressor refrigeration is becoming increasingly relevant.
He said Thetford ' s latest generation of compressor refrigerators were developed to meet the demands of diverse travel and climate conditions, with operating performance across climate class ranges from 10 ° C to 43 ° C.
