ALISON’ S FIRST FAREWELL TOUR
Our daughter, Kate, and Suze, a school friend of hers, flew down from Queensland and we caught up with them at a farmers’ market. The walk back to the park through the botanical gardens was lovely.
It was a quiet afternoon before getting dressed up and heading to the party. Why was it so special? Well, it was Apex Australia’ s 95th birthday. Our connection went back a long long way. Peter joined Apex when he was 18. In those days, you had to leave when you were 40. He had been Zone 6 President( Southern Qld) and I had been involved with getting women into Apex. Kate is the first female National President of Apex Australia, and Apex Global Chair.
The party was in the Sovereign Hill Gold Mine, a brilliant venue for a party. We caught up with lots of friends and made some new ones. When the party finished, it was the end of the‘ planned’ part of our trip. So the next morning, we got ourselves ready for a‘ who knows where, what or when trip’, the real part of caravanning.
ARRIVING IN COLAC
The only down part was the fuel issue. Diesel was getting more and more expensive. That had blown our budget out but we decided not to think about it. The bit we did think about was the risk of being stranded because petrol stations had run out of diesel. Well, we decided not to think any more about it for a couple of weeks.
