On site at the Terang Community Caravan Park.
We arrived in Colac and booked into Lake Colac Caravan Park, which was undergoing some renovations. They were nearly all finished, and it was all great. But the one thing that stood out was the camp kitchen. It was huge, had two separate kitchen spots including a fridge at each one. You could easily see 30-plus people sitting around the tables.
Colac is lovely once you get used to meeting a gorilla in the main street. Hello Murray, how are you going? He was outside the Murray Street Markets, a great place to shop. I just wish I had more room in the van for some of the things in the shop!
After a lovely rest, we headed to Terang. We found the Terang Community Caravan Park, but the caretaker wasn’ t there. However, one of the regular guests got us onto a site and filled us in with all the details we needed. One of things I will never forget about this park is the code for the amenities block. I’ m not good at remembering codes and write them in my notepad. Not at Terang. I can still remember the number!
Another lovely thing about Terang are the roses. We went for a walk into town, it’ s not far and very pleasant, and there were roses all over the place.
Great Ocean Road Tourist Park was calling us. We knew Sarah and Dean, the owners, who had been there for a very long time. We arrived, had a catch-up, set-up and became tourists again. Our first place was The Bay of Martyrs – you get a lovely view of the coast and its interaction with the ocean.
