ALISON’ S FIRST FAREWELL TOUR
We thoroughly enjoyed our threenight stay with Sarah and Dean but decided it was time to move on again.
We ended up at a low-cost park called Fitzroy River Camping, which was wonderful. Plenty of room, very quiet, lots of trees and greenery, no power. Friends of ours were going past the park on their way to Melbourne. They called in with their van and pulled up close to us. We had a lovely catch-up and when it was time for them to hit the road, they just pulled out again. How often can you do that in parks where you pay to stay! Oh, and the amenities are long-drop toilets about 300m from the camping area, so you get your exercise, but don’ t blow your nose before you go!

We were almost ready to cross into South Australia. We’ ve been through the border check before, so I had run things down to make sure that we only had the food that we could take through the border. Then we found that it was a bit easier in the area we were in because it wasn’ t the fruit fly area. Anyway, if the rules say you can’ t take this or that, I don’ t.
We gave ourselves one more day and headed to a free camp in Heywood. It had a dump point so we used that, then tried to find a level spot that wasn’ t under the trees. After two days without power, we wanted to get as much of a recharge as possible, but the sky was grey and miserable, so we left and made our way to a caravan park in town. We paid, set-up and then looked up. The sky was blue and happy! Oh well, too late to pull out and go back to the free camp. One night there and it was off to South Australia!
