AI is arguably the most powerful and potentially destructive technology to be developed since the atom bomb. The fear that a digital entity is coming for our jobs is – for some people, in some sectors – real, if somewhat muted at this point. In the backs of our minds, if were honest, we would all harbour some measure of AI angst.

But what if the AI had arms and legs, and was programmed to use those appendages to build caravans? It sounds … silly? If not silly, perhaps instead this potential future seems so distant that it isn’ t worth worrying about right now.

Not so fast. As you’ ll read in this issue, the idea of bipedal robots building our caravans is being taken seriously – not so much by the industry, yet, but by the people building these digital beings.

It’ s all pie in the sky, for now, but for an industry that has genuine difficulty finding skilled and unskilled labour, perhaps the idea of an‘ employee’ that doesn’ t take breaks, is never late, and records each and every action it takes for future review will become a tempting proposition.
