ALISON’ S FIRST FAREWELL TOUR
We made the really hard decision to head home. There was a rattle in the car, which was getting louder and lasting longer. We couldn’ t find the problem. We had also had the car in a garage and they said they couldn’ t find a reason for the rattle. But we decided it was better to go home than risk the car breaking down in the middle of nowhere.
On day 80 of our trip, we decided to return home via Broken Hill. So we packed up and headed off. We weren’ t planning on having a touristy type trip, but you know how plans change!

We kept seeing signs for the Laura Folk Fair along the road and decided that we should go. We made our way to the Laura Caravan Park in the Southern Flinders Ranges and were lucky to get a site because of a cancellation. We also were given scones, jam and cream – a gift to arriving people!
The fair was lovely. We checked out the area of the fair that had old cars before crossing the road and enjoying the range of choirs and ice creams. After time at the fair, we went to the local Little Blessings Brewery, an easy walk from the park. It’ s in an old Baptist Chapel, dated 1875. It’ s being really well cared for and well worth our two visits.
After the fair, we moved on to the Manna Hill Pub. There’ s a little free camp area with toilets close to the pub. Peter ordered a beer, but they didn’ t have wine. The wonderful woman behind the bar made me an ice coffee on her private machine – delicious! They have heaps of historical things in the pub. It’ s like visiting a humorous museum with snacks and drinks.
