ALISON’ S FIRST FAREWELL TOUR
The next overnight stop was very different. Barwon River Free Camp is great. There was one other van there when we arrived but we decided not to park close to them because they had a generator. There is a very good little amenities block with a kids playground just outside. Well, I thought it was for kids until I saw Grandad with his grandkids‘ playing’ on it. The kids were playing; Grandad was doing his exercises with the exercise machine!
We had heard of the Goodooga Artesian Springs in Goodooga and decided just to have a look. They are magnificent, and lots of people do stay there. I was really pleased to see the exercise equipment Grandad had been using, so gave it a go. Boy, Grandad was really good, I need heaps of practice!

Hebel Caravan Park, Qld, was our next stop. It’ s a tiny place, but a delight to visit. After checking out the park we made our way to the general store / cafe. But it’ s more than just a café; it’ s the kitchen for the pub over the road. We were told it’ s all owned by one person or firm. Whichever, it doesn’ t matter. The park, store, food and pub are great. And it was lovely to see some emus the next morning.
We hadn’ t decided on the next stop so called into Thallon to see if we wanted to stay there. It’ s a lovely place with some amazing artworks here, there and everywhere. But, no. We decided to move on to Nindigully. Well, that’ s a great experience too.
I will never forget ordering the chicken schnitzel and taking twothirds of it back with me because it was so big. One guess what we had for dinner the next night while we were parked up at the Yelarbon Recreation Grounds!
