Snowy River threw open its doors on a cold Melbourne Saturday morning in early September, giving media and industry guests a rare, behind-the-scenes look at its newest arrival, the SRM22 motorhome, and an even rarer look at how Snowy River builds its RVs.
The launch wasn’ t held in a typical caravan workshop. Snowy River’ s Victorian headquarters feels more like an aircraft hangar, vast, tidy and professional. This is where imported cabin modules arrive from China and are transformed into fully compliant Australian motorhomes.
What comes off the boat is far from finished; the factory team completes extensive assembly, fabrication, and quality assurance processes modelled on automotive manufacturing. Seeing this firsthand was an eye-opener. The‘ last mile’ work is substantial, meticulous, and absolutely critical for Australian conditions.
The headline act of the day was the Snowy River SRM22, a motorhome intended to disrupt the market thanks to an entry-point piece tag that’ s far more affordable than most competitors. Built on an LDV chassis sourced through local importers, the SRM22 blends an imported cabin with Australian engineering, compliance and finishing.
