Their van, you see, didn’ t come with a diesel heater. No matter – Cain and Katrina had one fitted to their five-year-old van and that’ s when Cain had an idea. Why not position the diesel tank inside their van’ s A-frame-mounted storage box, with the spout of the tank poking through the checkerplate? That would allow them to pull the van alongside the diesel bowser to simply and very easily fill the tank – without having to open a hatch or muck around. Of course, the hole that Cain cut into the storage box to facilitate the spout was then fully sealed to prevent dust and water ingress.

Cain fitted this diesel heater tank with the spout protruding from the front storage box to make filling it up at the bowser muh easier.
As I said to Cain, it’ s a terrific idea. In fact, it’ s almost surprising that this isn’ t a standard way of mounting these tanks.
As an electrician, Cain was also well qualified to fit an additional 240V powerpoint to the entertainment locker, allowing them to run their Ninja air-fryer outside at their leisure – the appliance simply sits on the nearby picnic table.
Finally, Cain and Katrina are clearly on the ball when it comes to drying their clothes during a trip, having also secured an extra rail to the roof of their van. When they showed it to me, I began to sense a theme amongst MDC owners!
