TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
From our table, we noticed a walking track following the river towards a local swimming hole. We learned that the track ran directly past the caravan park, making its location perfect for anyone who enjoys leaving the van behind and walking into town for a meal.
That afternoon, we returned to the caravan park, lit our fire and settled in beside the river. Ducks wandered over to greet us, while Twyla happily relaxed. We spotted a water-skiing ramp, suggesting the river must be a popular destination during summer.
The caravan park itself had impressive new facilities and brand-new cabins, adding to the appeal.
The following morning, after grabbing a coffee in town, we headed out for another riverside walk. Before leaving town, though, there was one final stop – the bakery.
We’ d heard rave reviews about its pies from the locals, and the queue outside the small bakery was a pretty good sign. The pies lived up to the hype and were the perfect farewell to a wonderful little getaway.
Bridgewater on Loddon had everything we wanted from a relaxing weekend away – beautiful river views, friendly locals, good food, great walks and plenty of opportunities to slow down.
Our only regret was not staying longer. We could have easily found another excuse to return to that pub for another meal, another beer and, most importantly, that view.
