ALISON’ S SECOND FAREWELL TOUR
We had really enjoyed our overnight stay in Rosedale, so we had a walk around the friendly area before heading off to our next stop, which was a totally new place to me – Mt Larcom, Qld. In all honesty, I had never heard of it before but we decided to go there because it’ s a small place and we had heard that the current owners were excaravanners. A bit like us, except we were parkies before becoming caravanners.
We arrived at the boom gate and straight away Mt Larcom Caravan Park showed its own character. The phone number to ring to get the boom gate opened is on the boom gate, and the first of the‘ animals’ around the park is on the park sign. Owners Teena and Geoff have got some great plans but are determined to keep the character of the park. Plus, if you are a sunrise person there’ s a spot to get a framed photo of the sunrise!
We walked into Mt Larcom, and had the choice of coffee and a snack at the café or the pub. Being the middle of the day, we chose the café. Lovely choice, lovely place.
At this point in our trip, we are making our way north and catching up with friends all over the place, but we have an ultimate aim to drive from Normanton to Borroloola, NT. It’ s one of the four stretches of Highway 1 Peter hasn’ t done in his lifetime! Plus we are starting to add in one-night stays, with or without power.
