Filming for TV in Acheron, Vic.

As the editor of GoRV, I asked our national sales manager, Grant Manson, about his favourite GoRV moment …

It’ s hard to pick just one favourite memory from 10 years of GoRV, but for me the GoRV Off-Road Challenge events at Acheron, Vic, would have to be right up there.

They were massive productions to put together. We weren’ t simply turning up and filming a few caravans; we were creating an event for the industry, bringing manufacturers and their latest offroad products together and turning the whole thing into television for networks including 7mate and Network 10.

There was an enormous amount of work that went on behind the scenes, but that’ s probably what made those events so memorable. Seeing everything finally come together, watching the caravans tackle the course, working alongside the manufacturers and then seeing what we had created go to air nationally around Australia was incredibly satisfying.

But when I look back, what I probably remember most is our own team. Those few days at Acheron were hard work, long hours and plenty of laughs, and it became a bonding experience for all of us. There was a great sense of achievement when we packed everything up, knowing we had actually pulled it off – we had created a genuine industry event, made some great television and had a lot of fun doing it.
