RV FEATURE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HOLDEN COLORADO The 3L V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee is another 4WD wagon that can’t legally tow 3500kg when loaded to GVM. In fact, it can only tow 3150kg in these conditions. Hitched to a 3500kg van when loaded to the gunwales, the Jeep will exceed its GCM by 350kg. Unfortunately, the reasonably popular Holden Colorado isn’t much better. This vehicle will exceed its GCM by 650kg if its owner tried to tow a 3500kg van with the vehicle loaded to its GVM of 3150kg. With its 2267kg kerb weight, the Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 offers a payload capacity of 682kg. Drop 350kg onto the towball, and payload is reduced to 332kg. On the positive side, this vehicle (with auto transmission) offers decent payload capacity. But to use all of the 987kg on offer, including the weight on the towball, any trailer being towed can’t weigh more than 2850kg in total. Is this enough to account for the weight of a family, luggage, aftermarket accessories, etc? You tell us. / 21
