CONGRATS , ALBO : NATIONAL BODY

The nation ’ s peak body for the caravan industry , Caravan Industry Association of Australia , has congratulated new prime minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party on their election victory .
“ The ALP has always been strong supporters of the caravan industry , and we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with them on issues of importance to the sector ,” the association ’ s CEO , Stuart Lamont , said . “ These include improving supply chains and workforce shortages , supporting a resilient and sovereign manufacturing industry , identifying instruments to improve the insurance market , and ensuring domestic tourism is strongly positioned in the visitor economy .”
He said that in the lead-up to the election , the ALP committed to supporting several initiatives on the association ’ s ‘ Federal Policy Agenda ’, including :
• $ 10 million to support caravan parks to upgrade their infrastructure ;
• Progressing a ‘ Centre of Excellence ’ for manufacturing , research and development , consumer inspections and training ;
• Providing oversight to progress timely RVSA initiatives ;
• Create ‘ worker attraction strategies ’; and
• Ensuring the residential land lease sector is well positioned to support downsizing and housing initiatives .
“ The caravanning and camping industry is worth over $ 23 billion to the Australian economy annually and we look forward to working constructively with the new Albanese Government in making the industry safer , sustainable , and more compliant ,” Mr Lamont said .
