RV TRAVEL
GIRRAWEEN NP
Our visit to the Girraween National Park was a real highlight . We headed to the must-see landmarks , The Pyramid , Castle Rock and The Sphinx . The five of us hiked the Pyramid Trail – it is a steep climb and definitely lifts the heart rate at the pace our kids set .
Our youngest family member arrived at the summit , and I said , “ Matilda , I ’ m extremely proud of you , that was absolutely incredible and very brave .”
“ Do you know what , family ? I ’ m so proud of myself ,” she replied .
We all laughed and sat down next to the Balancing Rock for a simple picnic for lunch .
I love keeping the days where we hike so simple – there are no bins so I tell the kids to eat every bit of the food in the backpack and leave no trace , other than footprints .
Cooper , 13 , Billy , 9 , and Matilda , 7 , enjoyed playing in the caves behind the giant boulders , pretending they were Marvel or Star Wars characters as they tried to move the rock with mind tricks or imaginary strength .
We were all in awe of the incredible boulders throughout Girraween National Park .
The kids had a blast at the Granite Belt Maze , where we learned that it is easier to solve the riddles if you write down the correct letters . You finish the maze with a game of mini golf , which is always extremely competitive in our family .
