TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
If there ’ s one thing we Aussies love to do , it is to visit ‘ big ’ landmarks across the country . During our travels , one of these landmarks has been the Big Potato , located in Robertson , a town in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales .
When we visited the town , the local bowling club offered free overnight parking for selfcontained vehicles , as long as you bought a meal . The club ’ s outside space is pet-friendly , so we could take Twyla in with us .
In the morning , we walked to the main street and popped into homewares and gift store Trotters Lane to grab a coffee . It was there we learnt that the movie Babe was filmed in the area , and that is where the store name came from .
ROBERTSON COUNTRY MARKET
We took in the streetscape with coffees in hand and stumbled across a community market at the local school . Like any good country market , stall-holders offered home-made baked goods , handicraft , and second-hand brica-brac . Adam bought some homemade Anzac biscuits that paired perfectly with our coffees . The Robertson Country Market is held fortnightly on a Sunday .
Further down the main street , we popped into some local art galleries and found a unique bonsai tree shop . We met the owner , who advised he ’ d been tending to bonsai for over 25 years and ran classes in his store . It was in this area of town where we came across the Big Potato . I ’ m not going to lie : I was happy to see it in person , and we made sure we got a couple of photos to look back on and to show that we were there .
