TANGO FALLOUT
“ At that stage we had no idea Tango had collapsed ,” she said . “ Although the liquidator had our name listed , they didn ’ t have our contact details .”
It was not the best news to receive when on a holiday , to say the least .
“ It appears that Tango took our deposit at the same time as knowing that they were not delivering vans at all ,” she said . “ Luckily , we only lost the deposit , $ 12,696 , and not the full amount as others unfortunately have .
“ As an aside , our trip involved a series of unfortunate events , including the fridge breaking down and having to be replaced in Alice Springs , but the major issue was when we were coming back from Windjana Gorge there was an incident in which one of our camper ’ s wheels dropped off the road and dug into the soft verge , subsequently flipping the camper a full 360 degrees – luckily , no one was injured and the car was undamaged .”
The couple managed to continue their trip following a three-day delay spent sorting out insurance and adjusting their itinerary .
“ On a happier note , back in Melbourne , we had better things happen ,” Lauren said . “ Going to Melbourne Leisurefest , we managed to find a caravan through DesignRV , who were fantastic . Once they heard we were Tango victims who lost our deposit , they went beyond any show deals . They gave us a highly discounted price on only a $ 1000 deposit – they understood that we may be a bit skittish in handing over a large deposit – and after coming to a price that we were more than happy with and ready to sign , they cut it further to get very close to the Tango price .
“ We cannot speak more highly of how they have looked after us .”
