TANGO FALLOUT
That was when Ali saw a social media post from Tango in search of brand ambassadors . “ I emailed them to find out what this would entail and was basically told they just wanted to get more people into Tango Caravans and they were offering the best possible price to make that happen ,” Ali said .
The spiel from the salesperson was one that we at GoRV have heard from multiple Tango victims . It went something like this : you can trust Tango because the owner of the business comes from a wellrespected family in the industry .
“ All of this , plus an attractive quote , had us signing on the dotted line and paying a deposit ,” Ali said .
The base price for their 19ft 6in van was $ 69,990 , but after adding some options , the price of their van came to just under $ 80,000 . Meanwhile , they put their previous caravan on the market and it sold quickly .
Being without a van for eight or 10 weeks , while not ideal , was manageable for the family .
“ We packed all our stuff in our shipping container in South Australia , where we have a piece of land in Moonta Bay , and basically we had a car chock-ablock with the stuff we needed for the next two months . We drove back to Queensland where we stayed with family and in shortterm holiday rentals ,” Ali said .
