Ironman 4x4 touts its new Orion 1200 rooftop tent as ‘ compact , light and super practical ’.
The Orion 1200 ($ 3500 ) features 280gsm ripstop polycotton for temperature and light control , and a thick , high-density mattress with 3D anti-condensation mat . It even comes with an inlet for a heater hose and an optional thermal liner to keep you warmer during the colder months .
To set it up , just undo a couple of latches and let the hard roof lift on its gas struts , slide in the awning poles , and you ’ re basically done .
When closed , the hard shell of the tent can support up to 40kg of additional load . Roof plates and side tracks are available to make it easier to mount a variety of accessories , such as solar panels and bikes . According to Ironman , when the tent is open , it can still hold up to 15kg of gear on the roof .
Optional extras include a telescopic ladder , LED strip lighting and a front-entry awning .
