RV FEATURE
It sounds daunting . Find shops outside of your home comfort zone to purchase gifts , fit a feast ’ s worth of food into a smaller-thannormal fridge / freezer capacity , battle peak school holiday crowds ( and prices ), and drive roads swamped with vehicles at the busiest time of the year … but it is worth it !
Stick with me here . If we put aside the immediate planning stress , there ’ s a lot to love about spending your holidays out and about around Australia . Think of it as the Christmas version of eloping – all of the fun and none of the fuss ! And you can focus on what ’ s really important at this time of year : time with immediate family .
The Morgans are spending their first Christmas and New Year season on the road .
As we prepare for our own celebrations ( and scratch our heads about where on earth we ’ ll store gifts ), I thought I would share a few tips on how to prep for a camping Christmas . Plus , we ’ re in our van full-time so the stress of packing is somewhat less when you already have most things .
Nevertheless , here ’ s a rundown of the challenges and , most importantly , why they ’ re worth it .

Getting a booking and minimumnight stays …
If you don ’ t have an elusive Christmas or New Year ’ s booking yet , the chances are your time may have already passed for a caravan park spot . In March this year , we rang no fewer than 10 caravan parks in the entire north New South Wales coast region to finally get a spot ... with peak pricing and a seven-night minimum stay .
