NEW MU-X LAUNCHED!

It was a Tuesday in mid-February. I found myself at a 4WD playground known as Black Duck Valley, Qld, about to do things with the 2025 Isuzu MU-X that this vehicle surely had no right to do. At least, that was what I thought when I first saw the rutted out, canyon-esque track before me.

Really? They want us to drive these stock-standard MU-Xs up and through that? To be clear, it was the sort of track that I would only have otherwise attempted in a lifted 4WD with AT tyres, at a minimum, preferably with some underbody protection.

But there I sat behind the wheel of a new Isuzu, one of many being tested by me and various 4WD journalists as part of Isuzu Ute Australia’ s official launch of the 2025 model, about to tackle a stretch of terrain that, to my mind, I had no business doing in a factory SUV.

The day before, we’ d been given the overview on the changes to the vehicle for this year. We’ d been assured the changes went‘ beyond the sheetmetal’. The next day, our large group drove the many MU-Xs set aside for the vehicle launch to Black Duck Valley, evaluating the on-road driving performance along the way.
