RV MAIL
PINGED IN ALICE SPRINGS
Just a heads-up on a road rule. I got pinged in Alice Springs. Apparently the school zones run all day, from 8am to 4pm.
I returned home from a Red Centre holiday to receive the fine. At 11am, I was doing 57km / h in what I thought was a 60km / h zone; however, I later found out it was a 40km / h zone( no flashing lights). The fine was for $ 190.
Safe travels. Glenn Williams
LETTERS FROM THE ROAD
Thanks Glenn. That’ s a perfect illustration of why we should be familiarising ourselves with local road rules when travelling. – Ed
READY FOR RALLIES!
Just a quick email to let you know that I very much enjoyed issue # 98 of GoRV. I noticed you published a couple of articles about caravan rallies, and I would love to see more of this style of content.
Caravan club get-togethers are an under-rated aspect of the RV lifestyle. I have learned so much from attending caravan rallies. Just chatting to fellow like-minded travellers is an excellent source of information, and a great way to build your confidence.

IT’ S GROSS
I stayed in Crowdy Bay, NSW, recently. When we pulled up, there was rubbish everywhere, including cigarette butts and toilet paper. I just don’ t understand the mentality of arriving somewhere beautiful and deciding to leave it looking disgraceful for the next lot of campers.
My wife and I spent a good 15 minutes or more cleaning it up, and we later dumped the rubbish in a bin. But honestly, if you can’ t clean up after yourself, don’ t go caravanning!

I completely agree, Simon. I wish you had taken pictures. In fact, let this be an open invitation to anyone who finds a similar mess to send in pics – I would love to shine a spotlight on this sort of disgraceful behaviour, as not only does it harm our environment, it gives caravanners a bad name. – Ed
