The Finke is framed in meranti timber that ’ s clad with composite aluminium and plenty of black checkerplate . Brush bars , colourmatched to the decals and front and rear cladding , are included too – always a welcome inclusion , especially for a van that ’ s designed for offroad use .
In terms of external storage , RV Innovations has given this rig a tunnel boot towards the front , though part of the offside is taken up by the instant hot water service . However , there ’ s a rear-offside storage locker too , and let ’ s not forget the checkerplate storage box on the A-frame , with a slide-out tray either side . The fuel tank for the diesel heater is fitted to the front of this box and I liked that it had been given some additional checkerplate protection , too . Dual gas cylinders are mounted just forward of that , with the lot protected by a mesh stoneguard .
This tandem-axle rig is quite a high-riding van and , as such , the DO35 coupling has been fixed to a steel plate welded to the underside of the pointy end , which helps to keep the coupling height within ADR tolerances .
