RV REVIEW
Things get particularly interesting at the front of the Mars 15 . First , I loved that the drawbar-mounted gas cylinders had been given a protective housing of checkerplate – more manufacturers should do this . And because it is quite a high-riding camper , Mars has had to weld some additional 6in RHS steel to the underside of the drawbar . The DO35 coupling is bolted to this steel , and in this way , the height of the coupling is kept within ADR tolerances .
The water system on this rig is more than adequate for a couple days off-grid . It gets a 190L protected fresh water tank and a 190L grey tank . Meanwhile , the 12V system is comprised of three 100Ah deep cycle batteries and a 2000W inverter . In terms of solar , no panels are mounted to the roof ; instead , you ’ d be looking at packing a portable panel – a 50A Anderson connection is included .
The Mars 15 rides on independent trailing arm coil suspension with 16in alloy wheels shod with MT tyres . Visually , it ’ s a neat rig that looks like it ’ ll tackle offroad situations nicely – the rock sliders not only look great , the time may come when you ’ ll be thankful they ’ re fitted as standard !
