In this article, we’ re taking a detailed look at the Quattro range of caravan movers by Purpleline, the same company behind the FullStop range of anti-theft products as well as the OPUS camper trailer.
THE THREE QUATTROS
The Quattro is a permanent installation. It is comprised of motors mounted to the chassis of the van, each with a roller that has enough torque to spin the caravan wheel.
It is available in a couple of formats and is suitable for singleaxle vans up to 2250kg ATM and tandem-axle vans up to an ATM of 2850kg. There’ s the Quattro Titanium kit, the Platinum, and the Quickey. Each works in the same way, but there are some key differences of which to be aware.
First, the rollers on the motors of the Titanium and the Quickey need to be manually engaged, but don’ t be put off: as I discovered, it’ s literally just a case of using a tyre lever to turn a screw – because the mechanism is spring-loaded, anyone could do it, regardless of their strength. The Platinum model, however, has an‘ auto engage’ feature. Just push a button on the remote control and the rollers will gently bite onto the tyres of the van.
The Platinum also has larger rollers – 180mm wide compared to the 130mm rollers found on the Quattro Titanium.
