Lake Tyers Caravan Park
LOVELY LAKES ENTRANCE
We moved on to Lakes Entrance and set-up in Silver Sands Caravan Park. This park was home to Terry and Robyn Semmens, the founders of Top Tourist Parks. It’ s not the easiest of parks to set-up on a site, but once you are it’ s a great place to be.
We drove out to Lake Tyers, a lovely area with a great pub and a caravan park area behind it. This park has very fond memories for us. My aunt and uncle used to own it and we spent our honeymoon there too. In a way, it was one of the things that lured us into caravans and caravanning.
We used to own a park too, from 1992-2010. If you ever went to Lilyponds Holiday Park in Mapleton, Qld, chances are you and I have said hello!
Lakes Entrance is famous for the wooden statues along the road next to the waterway. They are all dedicated to the armed forces who participated in World War I.
From here, it was one more night before we set-up in Melbourne for the show. We chose to go to Bunyip Showgrounds. We had a long drive because we would be driving through Melbourne the following day so wanted to make that shorter.
We made our way to the Discovery Parks, Melbourne in Braybrook, one we have stayed at before. We do like this park, the facilities are easy access with a key. There’ s plenty of entertainment for kids and a great camp kitchen.
