WHEN THE INTERNET IS SLOW
I’ ll be honest. If the internet is slow and it’ s affecting your streaming performance, there is very little you can do about it, but here are a few things you can try:
You can set your streaming app to a lower resolution. Most streaming apps will automatically reduce the resolution to improve streaming on slow internet connections, but a few of the more popular ones will allow you to set the resolution manually. On most caravan TVs, 720p will still look good.
Try placing your streaming device or internet modem outside. I know this may sound strange, but if your caravan has an aluminium exterior or a metal frame, this can have properties similar to those of a Faraday cage, which blocks or restricts external electromagnetic radiation, such as wi-fi or mobile broadband signals.
Try a different streaming service. I have no empirical evidence to prove this, but I have found that some services seem to cope better than others with poor internet speeds. For instance, Netflix and YouTube work well almost all the time, but apps like Foxtel Go seem to need a perfect connection to function properly.
