TANGO FALLOUT
Tango staff showed Tanya and her husband through the van and they decided to buy it there and then , paying Tango a $ 1000 deposit to secure it .
“ Tango rang us continuously pushing for full payment and to book a collection date ,” Tanya said . “ Once we had the money ready , we did the final inspection and to go through the extras needed , such as a bike rack front and back , and a power socket in the storage section for our portable Engel . We also decided to get curved awning bars and the anti-flap kit .”
The couple were advised that these additions would take three days , with hand-over of the van to take place shortly afterwards . Feeling confident , Tanya and her husband made the final payment . In total , they paid Tango $ 102,900 .
But soon it became apparent there was a problem . Tango stopped returning calls and emails . Tanya contacted the manufacturer of the van which they had paid for . That ’ s when they learned that the van was in Tango ’ s showroom on consignment . It had been repossessed by the manufacturer with the intention of selling it to someone else . Tanya and her husband couldn ’ t pick it up because the manufacturer had not been paid for the van that it had built ; however , the manufacturer did offer to re-sell it to Tanya for $ 98,000 . However , Tanya and her husband declined .
“ Our caravanning dream is in ruins , as well as our financial situation . We are totally devastated .”
Tanya Riches and her husband saw their van with their own eyes ... and yet , despite paying for it , they would never be allowed to own it .
