HIDING PRESENTS
Especially the presents from the big fella in red …
Whilst we ’ re on the topic of buying presents , let ’ s address what to do with them once you ’ ve got them . Shhh .. ours go under the mattress or couch . Our littlies can ’ t lift them and we have a multitude of hidey holes that should be able to fit all our secret stuff .
They could also go in with the spare tyre if you ’ ve got boot access . The more imaginative the better , but my tip would also be to buy as late as possible .
The kids love this little pre-lit tree , and it ' s the perfect size for a caravan .
LIMITED FRIDGE SPACE
Catering might take some imagination …
Is Christmas really Christmas without a traditional big lunch ? Well , I can promise you all that food and ingredients are not going to fit in your caravan fridge ( well , not in mine , anyway ). If you ’ re cooking , make no leftovers your goal and buy just enough to make one choice , like cold ham , salads , bread rolls and perhaps some seafood .
If that ’ s not big enough , there are a couple of other ways to get the perfect meal . We ’ ll be in Port Macquarie , NSW , this year and we priced luncheons in town . Unfortunately , each was outside of our full-time travel budget , but if you ’ re just holidaying , something like this could be a great option . A full buffet with none of the cooking , clean up or leftovers .
We went with catering . A local small business in Port Mac is making us a hamper ( which we are picking up on Christmas Eve ) with all the cold food you could want in a lunch . Charcuterie for four , cold ham and chicken with potato and pasta salads , as well as pavlova for dessert . Perfect !
