RV FEATURE
The Lane Keep Assist function , which in previous D-MAXs I have found a bit jerky , is now much smoother , providing better steering intervention to track the centre of the lane , rather than reacting to the outer lane markings .
The Rear Cross Traffic Brake is … okay . I don ’ t love it , if I ’ m honest , but I can see how others might find it useful . Essentially , it is a second set of eyes as you reverse . It uses the same radar sensors as for the Blind Spot Monitoring , and when it senses a hazard , the brakes come on – hard . However , I have found it quite sensitive , reacting to obstacles such as a letterbox that I was well aware of and in no danger of hitting .
Isuzu also gave this vehicle a new digital reversing camera , dramatically improving image quality , with a wider field of view , dynamic guidelines and a hydrophobic coating over the lens to prevent water from obscuring the vision .
18in alloys with HT tyres is standard .
Not shown in this pic , but the MID has a TPMS . Just toggle through and you ' ll have instant data concerning the vehicle ' s tyre pressures .
Heated seats , leather-accented upholostery , an eight-way poweradjustable driver ’ s seat , an autodimming rearview mirror … the reality is , the D-MAX LS-U +, being very near the top of the range , does not skimp or leave the driver wanting more – it feels like you ’ re getting your money ’ s worth . Keyless entry and push-button starting , auto door locking when the driver walks away from the vehicle , rear diff lock , trailer sway control … there ’ s a lot of comfort , technology and drivability here , whether in the bush or around town . There ’ s Electronic Stability Control , an Intelligent Speed Limiter , Lane Departure Warning , Forward Collision Warning … again , there ’ s lot of tech here designed to keep you and your passengers safe , and overall , it feels like it ’ s cohesive and intuitive . Further , these advanced safety systems are standard on all D-MAX vehicles , regardless of the variant .
